About Me

My
Story
Hey, you. I'm Kelsey. If I had to give you three words to describe myself, I'd say...empathetic (my blessing and my curse), silly (I will always be a little kid), and stubborn (as heck). Being stubborn has a negative connotation, but for me, it covers a lot of ground. It accounts for my determination, persistence, and work ethic. I grew up in a ridiculously musical family - mostly jazzers. We're talking family recitals at Christmas, complete with printed programs. You'll either think that's really sweet, or really annoying. Regardless, music is a huge part of my identity. I always knew horn was it. My school district didn't have a string program, so the first time I heard strings was in 7th grade at an Area All-State Orchestra weekend. I will never forget the feeling of sitting in the middle of all that sound and thinking this is what I am going to do with my life. I went on to get two degrees in music and start a successful freelancing career. All of that sounds pretty romantic and idyllic. And it is! But, you'll realize, this blog is the untangling of that very identity I so desperately need. Thank you for taking a little glimpse into my journey as I figure out how to be a human first, and a musician second.
